Hide Billing Address Same as Shipping in Bigcommerce Checkout

If you have user defined address form fields that you need to be filled out in every order, but an existing customer has their address and billing information saved, then those users will never see the required form fields. This solution we've crafted will force customers to have to enter their billing information on every checkout session, which will expose the required user defined form fields that you need in your order information.

There are a couple steps to solving this issue. On your Bigcommerce dashboard:

1. Open up the "Settings" menu
   1. Click on the "Checkout" settings underneath the "Advanced" settings section
   2. Under the "Optimized one-page checkout" section, uncheck the "Make the "My billing address is the same as my shipping address." checked by default on checkout" checkbox
2. Open up the "Storefront" menu
   1. Click on the "Script Manager" setting
   2. Click the "Create a script" button in the upper right corner
      1. Name the script something you'll recognize, like "Hide billing same as shipping checkbox in checkout"
      2. Place the script in the Footer
      3. Set the Location to Checkout
      4. Set the Script category to Essential
      5. Set the Script type to Script asdf
      6. Copy our script and paste it into the Script contents box
      7. Click "Save" in the bottom right 

Now, when you visit your checkout page, the billing step will be required because we unchecked the "Make the "My billing address is the same as my shipping address." checked by default on checkout" checkbox and hid that checkbox from the customers.
