Website Designer
Design beautiful websites, pages, and components for eCommerce stores.
The Opportunity
Brod Solutions is a lean eCommerce agency helping US-based manufacturers grow on Shopify and BigCommerce. Our work is built on Revenue Clarity — finding the break in a client's business and fixing it.
Design is one of the biggest levers we pull. A manufacturer's website is often the first real impression of their brand, and the difference between a generic template and a designed experience shows up directly in conversion rate and average order value.
You'll work directly with clients and our dev team, own the visual and UX direction for client projects, and turn strategy into designs that are fast to build, easy to shop, and worth paying a premium for.
We're not looking for a template flipper. We're looking for someone who thinks in conversion, understands how design decisions affect development time and site performance, and wants to build a portfolio of real, revenue-driving eCommerce work.
Core Responsibilities
- Design for UX and UI: Create and update website designs for better user experience and user interaction, from wireframes through polished mockups.
- Build and implement: Turn your own designs into working pages, coding with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript inside Shopify and BigCommerce.
- Testing and maintenance: Test designs across devices and browsers, and maintain sites post-launch so they keep working and keep converting.
- Client asset translation: Take client branding, assets, and goals and turn them into a site that looks premium and sells.
- PM communication: Communicate with the Project Manager on all tasks, milestones, and project status, no surprises.
- Client meetings: Attend client meetings (about 20% of your time) and provide strategic, honest feedback on what's possible for us and for them.
- Estimating: Estimate time required for design and dev tasks accurately enough that timelines hold.
- Version control and documentation: Work in Github, document your activity, and log time and notes in Accelo.
Who You Are
- Experienced: Minimum 2 years of UX/UI design experience, ideally with some hands-on front-end coding.
- Tool fluent: Comfortable in Figma, Adobe XD, or similar, and ready to work daily in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Framework ready: Experience with Shopify, WordPress, or BigCommerce is a strong plus.
- Standards driven: You follow coding standards and design patterns rather than reinventing them project to project.
- Conversion-minded: You understand a beautiful design that doesn't convert isn't a win.
- Organized and communicative: You keep the PM and the team in the loop without being chased for updates.
- Kalamazoo-area preferred, but open to fully remote for the right person.
This Role is Not for Everyone
- A design-only, hand-off role: You design it, then you build it. Mockups without implementation aren't the job.
- A "disappear after handoff" role: You test, maintain, and stay accountable for what you ship.
- A corporate environment: You work directly with the founder and PM, and we trust each other to move fast.
Why This Role
You'll build a portfolio of real, high-stakes eCommerce projects for US manufacturers, work directly with the founder on strategy and positioning, and see your designs go live and drive measurable revenue, not just sit in a deck.
